A high-level delegation from DP World recently met with senior officials from Oman to review the progress of the Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The strategic meeting focused on ensuring the timely completion of the project’s first phase, a crucial development for enhancing trade and industrial cooperation between Oman and the UAE.
Strengthening Cross-Border Economic Integration
The Al Rawdah SEZ, situated in the Al Rawdah District of Mahdah Wilayat in Al Buraimi Governorate, is strategically located along key regional trade corridors. The zone’s proximity to major logistics hubs, such as Sohar Port and Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, makes it an important gateway for cross-border trade and industrial growth between the two countries.
The first phase of the SEZ spans approximately 14 square kilometers, with plans for expansion to 24 square kilometers in the future to meet investor demand. This expansion will support long-term growth and reinforce the zone’s pivotal role in regional economic integration.
DP World’s Commitment to Sustainable Development
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World, emphasized the project’s importance as a platform for trade, industrial growth, and regional connectivity. He highlighted DP World’s global expertise in logistics and economic zone development, which will ensure that Al Rawdah SEZ becomes a competitive, future-ready ecosystem for both investors and local communities.
The collaboration with the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) reflects a shared commitment to delivering the project according to the highest standards and within the agreed timelines.
A Future-Ready Ecosystem for Investors
As the development continues, both DP World and OPAZ are focused on maintaining momentum across subsequent phases of the project. The SEZ will not only foster industrial growth but also support long-term value for investors through its strategic location and robust infrastructure.
The successful development of the Al Rawdah SEZ promises to create a vibrant hub for trade, further strengthening the economic ties between Oman and the UAE and contributing to the growth of the broader region.
With significant progress in the development of the Al Rawdah SEZ, DP World is poised to enhance the economic landscape of Oman while strengthening cross-border trade with the UAE. As the first phase of the project nears completion, the SEZ is set to become a key player in the region’s economic future, driving investment and sustainable growth.
