The Hainan FTP international services portal was launched on December 15, 2025, just days before the island province’s special customs operations are set to begin. This new platform aims to centralize essential information and streamline services for expatriates and foreign-invested enterprises operating within the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP).
A Step Towards Increased Accessibility in Hainan
The timing of the portal’s launch coincides with Hainan’s ongoing push to make the island more accessible, particularly for international businesses. As part of China’s broader opening-up policy, the portal will serve as a critical tool in aiding foreign nationals who live, work, and do business in Hainan. “This represents the culmination of efforts to make Hainan more accessible for foreign nationals,” said David Adrian Janke, an entrepreneur and translator from the UK.
Multilingual Portal Features for Global Users
The multilingual portal is designed to accommodate a global audience, featuring seven primary sections that provide comprehensive guides and services. These include “Dynamic Hainan,” an introduction to the island, and “Do Business,” which aligns with the FTP’s goal of fostering a market-oriented and internationalized business environment. The portal offers 44 service categories and 95 international service items, all available with bilingual Chinese-English guides. Initially, the portal launched in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic.
Simplifying Business and Administrative Procedures
Jan Kerekes, a Slovak-Canadian international trade professional, highlighted the portal’s role in improving convenience. “Now, all procedures are centralized, and frequently used services such as enterprise registration and consular authentication can be completed through the portal,” he noted. The platform is expected to deepen business engagement by making it easier for foreign businesses to access vital policy insights and tailor their business plans to fit local regulations.
