Huawei Kenya Partnership

Huawei is set to form a transformative partnership with the Kenya School of Government to advance the digitization of Kenya’s public sector. This collaboration is aimed at equipping civil servants with the digital skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving technological landscape, enhancing the country’s overall public service delivery.

Boosting Digital Skills in Kenya’s Public Sector

The Huawei Kenya partnership will focus on developing advanced skills in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital governance. By fostering proficiency in these crucial areas, the partnership will contribute to the improvement of service delivery and the strengthening of institutional performance within Kenya’s government.

In a statement released in Nairobi, Nura Mohamed, the Director General of the Kenya School of Government, emphasized the significance of this collaboration. He noted, “Our objective is to build a workforce that is not only digitally literate but proficient in utilizing cloud technologies, AI, and cybersecurity tools to improve service delivery and safeguard citizens’ data.”

Strengthening Kenya’s Digital Economy

This collaboration is a part of Huawei’s broader strategy to support Kenya’s ambition of becoming a fully digital economy. Huawei has been actively contributing to digital literacy programs in the country through various partnerships with state institutions. Yuta Leng, Huawei Kenya’s Public Affairs Director, underscored Huawei’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation by leveraging its technological expertise. “Our goal is to improve public service delivery, enhance capacity building for civil servants, and help Kenya realize its digital economy ambitions,” said Yuta.

Aligning with Kenya’s National AI Strategy

This partnership will also support the Kenya National AI Strategy for 2025-2030, which emphasizes the adoption of AI technologies in the public sector as a means to boost growth and improve service delivery. The integration of AI and cloud technology applications into the Kenya School of Government’s training programs will ensure that the country’s civil servants are at the forefront of digital transformation.

By focusing on practical applications, this initiative will empower Kenya’s public workforce to use emerging technologies to create efficiencies, improve public services, and drive innovation.

A Step Toward Digital Empowerment

The Huawei Kenya partnership represents a significant step forward in the nation’s digital transformation journey. With the inclusion of AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing skills in the curriculum, Kenya is on track to improve governance and public service efficiency. Through this collaboration, Huawei and the Kenya School of Government are not only addressing the immediate needs of the public sector but also positioning Kenya as a leader in digital innovation in Africa.
