Delivery vans, service vehicles, ride-hailing cars, municipal fleets and logistics trucks are increasingly being considered for electric replacement. EV Market Stocks Show Mixed Performance

The broader electric vehicle market remains active, but investor performance across EV-related companies has been uneven.

Tesla ended the trading session at $402.90, down 4%, according to the market update. The decline came during a session where some EV-linked names moved in different directions.

Huizhou Desay SV Automotive stood out with a 3.9% gain, closing at CN¥86.15. The company’s performance reflected investor interest in parts of the automotive technology supply chain.

Rivian Automotive, however, fell sharply, dropping 18.1% to close at $16.49. The move came during a week in which Rivian completed a follow-on equity offering that raised about $1.16 billion.

The mixed performance shows that while the EV industry continues to grow, investors are still weighing profitability, capital needs, competition and execution risks.

Rivian’s Capital Raise Puts Focus on Growth Plans

Rivian’s latest equity offering highlights a common challenge in the electric vehicle industry: growth requires significant capital.

The company is working to advance its R2 platform, which is expected to support cost reductions and improve margins over time. Lower production costs are crucial for EV manufacturers because affordability and profitability remain major concerns across the sector.

While new funding can support product development and manufacturing expansion, equity offerings may also pressure existing shares by increasing the number of shares in circulation. That can partly explain why markets sometimes react negatively to capital raises, even when the money supports long-term plans.
