Three teenagers have been charged in connection with a major theft at an Apple store in Cambridge, where £11,490 worth of mobile phones were stolen. The theft occurred at the Grand Arcade Apple store, and the stolen items included 11 high-value mobile phones.
The Incident and Arrests
Cambridgeshire Police were alerted to the theft on Sunday by a member of the public. Shortly after the theft, officers managed to track down and stop a white BMW on the M11. During the stop, a 17-year-old male from Enfield, London, was arrested. He was charged with theft from a shop and breaching a criminal behavior order. The teen is due to appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Two other suspects, both 16-year-old boys from London, were also arrested and charged with theft. They are set to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on March 4.
The Ongoing Investigation
Cambridgeshire Police continue their investigation into the theft and are working to recover the stolen items. The police have asked the public for any additional information that could help with the case.
The theft has raised concerns about security at retail locations, particularly in busy shopping areas like the Grand Arcade, where high-value items are frequently targeted by criminals. However, the swift action by Cambridgeshire Police in arresting the suspects has been praised by local authorities.
Future Implications and Legal Action
With the suspects set to face court hearings in the coming months, this case highlights the ongoing issue of youth crime and the legal consequences that come with such actions. The involvement of minors in high-value thefts is a reminder of the need for heightened security measures and community awareness in preventing similar crimes.
This case is one of many incidents where mobile phones have become a prime target for thieves, particularly in major retail outlets. As the investigation continues, it serves as a reminder to both consumers and businesses to stay vigilant against such criminal activity.
