Meta has introduced major updates to its video-editing app Edits, including the launch of the Edits AI assistant and a desktop version, designed to enhance content creation for Instagram creators. The AI assistant provides personalized insights, helps brainstorm new video ideas, and allows creators to understand what content performs best, while the desktop version offers more advanced editing capabilities.
AI-Powered Insights to Boost Engagement
The new Edits AI assistant uses data from creators’ Instagram accounts, such as video views, retention rates, and engagement metrics, to recommend trending audio and suggest content ideas that are likely to perform well. By analyzing patterns in audience behavior, the AI assistant helps creators make informed decisions about their video strategy, ensuring that content resonates with viewers.
This integration removes the need for external tools like ChatGPT, streamlining the creative process. Creators can now plan, edit, and optimize content all within Edits, reducing friction and encouraging more frequent posting, which can directly improve overall engagement rates.
Desktop Version Enhances Workflow
In addition to the AI assistant, Edits is now coming to desktop, allowing creators to work on a larger screen with precise control over editing tools. The desktop version supports seamless workflow synchronization between mobile and desktop devices, making it easier to produce high-quality content efficiently. This update positions Edits as a stronger competitor to ByteDance’s CapCut, which already offers desktop editing capabilities.
Beta Tab and Expanded Analytics
Meta also added a Beta tab to Edits, giving creators early access to experimental features and enabling them to provide feedback to help refine the app. New analytics tools provide detailed audience insights, including demographic breakdowns, peak engagement times, and video performance metrics. Creators can experiment with multiple versions of a single video to identify what resonates most with viewers before publishing.
Driving Creator Success on Instagram
Edits-created content has been shown to achieve a 10% higher save rate and a 2% higher reshare rate compared to non-Edits content. By providing creators with both an AI assistant and enhanced analytics, Meta is empowering them to produce better content, gain insights into audience preferences, and increase engagement.
Availability and Future Updates
The AI assistant is currently being tested with select creators, while the desktop version is expected to launch soon. All other features, including the Beta tab and updated analytics, are available now on iOS and Android. The rollout of the Edits AI assistant marks a major step in Meta’s strategy to attract and retain content creators on Instagram, helping them work smarter and faster.
