The Government of Cameroon has partnered with Huawei to fast-track ICT skills development for the country’s youth. This collaboration, launched between the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP) and Huawei, aims to equip young Cameroonians with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital economy. The initiative focuses on large-scale training, certification, and creating advanced learning infrastructure.
Enhancing Employability Through ICT Training
The Huawei Cameroon tech skills program is a comprehensive initiative designed to provide intensive ICT training to youth and instructors. With a five-year plan, Huawei will offer certification programs, establish a dedicated certification center, and provide access to advanced technologies such as 5G. The initiative aims to link skills development with market demand, enhancing the employability of young people in industries like agriculture, commerce, and critical infrastructure.
Aligning with Cameroon’s National Youth Employment Plan
Huawei Cameroon tech skills,This partnership aligns with Cameroon’s Special Youth Employment Plan, focusing on “One Youth, One Skill, One Job” initiatives. With youth comprising 66% of the population, the program is designed to scale skills training across the nation, particularly in rural areas, through e-learning platforms and smart classrooms. The program aims to create job-ready graduates equipped with the skills needed for modern careers.
Huawei’s involvement leverages its global presence and extensive experience in delivering cutting-edge technology and solutions. With targeted training hubs in Sangmélima, Douala, and Limbe, this partnership is set to transform the future workforce in Cameroon.
