Huawei MateBook Pro’s HarmonyOS 6 Certification

The Huawei MateBook Pro with model number HAD-W32 has successfully completed the OpenHarmony 6.0 Release support test, securing a certificate with build version 6.0.0.130. This means that the laptop is now compatible with Huawei’s latest operating system, HarmonyOS 6, and is ready for future updates.

While the certification confirms that the MateBook Pro can run HarmonyOS 6, it should be noted that the most recent version available to users is 6.0.0.120, which includes significant optimizations to improve overall user experience.

Key Features and Improvements in the Latest Update

With the HarmonyOS 6.0.0.120 update, the MateBook Pro introduces several important enhancements across various features:

  • Home Screen Enhancements: The app icons’ appearance in the app center has been optimized, along with improvements to the folder shortcut display effect. Additionally, actions such as cutting, pasting, and deleting have been streamlined for a smoother user experience.
  • File Manager Improvements: The update refines the user experience on the main interface, especially when switching to My Cloud Drive from the sidebar. It also resolves issues related to file copying errors and USB drive connection failures, ensuring better file management capabilities.

A Transition to HarmonyOS: A New Era for Huawei Laptops

Huawei made a bold move in 2025 by launching its first HarmonyOS-powered laptop, marking the company’s shift away from Microsoft Windows. This transition began with HarmonyOS 5, where Huawei first introduced native app frameworks that supported cross-platform compatibility. The support from China’s IT industry has helped Huawei scale its developer services and optimize apps for large screen devices like the MateBook Pro.

By integrating HarmonyOS 6 with its laptops, Huawei aims to offer a more seamless and integrated experience for users across its ecosystem, with enhanced compatibility for mobile apps on larger screens.

OpenHarmony Support: Flexibility for Users

The certification also means that the Huawei MateBook Pro can now run not just Huawei’s own HarmonyOS software but also other OpenHarmony builds. This opens up opportunities for users to install a variety of software versions, although the specific API version of OpenHarmony has not yet been revealed.

Performance and Design of the Huawei MateBook Pro

Alongside software enhancements, the Huawei MateBook Pro continues to impress with its sleek design and durable build quality. It offers excellent performance with fast processing speeds, a stunning display, and long battery life. With HarmonyOS integration, the laptop is now more closely aligned with Huawei’s broader device ecosystem, providing users with an all-in-one platform to manage both work and entertainment seamlessly.

A Game-Changer for Huawei’s Ecosystem

The Huawei MateBook Pro’s certification for HarmonyOS 6 marks a pivotal moment for the brand, as it takes a bold step away from traditional PC operating systems. With new features like enhanced home screen and file manager functionalities, along with the addition of OpenHarmony support, the MateBook Pro stands as a testament to Huawei’s growing influence in the tech world. As Huawei continues to push its ecosystem forward, the MateBook Pro is positioned to be a strong competitor in the laptop market, catering to both personal and professional needs.
