Morocco EV investment gains pace with new Chinese facility

Under the EV investment push, Ingin Auto will set up production at Tanger Tech, a high-technology industrial platform in northern Morocco. The plant will focus on intelligent closure systems, including electric vehicle trunks, motorised tailgates and automated opening solutions, products increasingly demanded by electric and smart vehicles.

The project will be executed through the company’s local arm, Ingin Intelligent Morocco, with an investment exceeding 200 million Moroccan dirhams. It marks a significant milestone for the Shanghai-based firm, founded in 2017, and reflects confidence in Morocco’s industrial ecosystem.

EV investment supported by strong automotive ecosystem

A key driver of this Morocco EV investment decision is the presence of global automakers already operating in the country. Stellantis maintains a major production base in Kenitra, assembling hundreds of thousands of vehicles annually for brands such as Peugeot, Citroën and Fiat. Proximity to large manufacturers allows suppliers like Ingin Auto to streamline logistics, shorten supply chains and strengthen partnerships.

Morocco’s broader automotive landscape combines modern infrastructure, competitive industrial zones and policies that support clean mobility and energy transition. These advantages continue to attract international manufacturers across the electric vehicle value chain, from batteries to high-value components.

Morocco EV investment positions country as regional export hub

With multiple EV-related projects underway, EV investment is helping position the country as a strategic export platform serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The addition of advanced component manufacturing complements existing vehicle assembly and battery production, creating a more integrated and resilient ecosystem.

As demand for electric and intelligent vehicles accelerates globally, Morocco’s ability to attract technology-driven investors like Ingin Auto underscores its growing importance in the future of sustainable mobility.
