Samsung Biologics PCF systems have received independent validation, reinforcing the company’s push for credible and transparent carbon accounting across biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Samsung Biologics confirmed that its product carbon footprint framework has been independently assessed and validated by DNV, an international assurance and risk management firm. The validation confirms alignment with globally recognised standards for carbon footprint measurement and reporting.
According to the company, the Samsung Biologics PCF system complies with ISO 14067 and PAS 2050 requirements, ensuring consistency, reliability, and comparability of product-level emissions data. The assessment reviewed data inputs, calculation methods, conversion processes, and outputs, verifying that the system follows accepted international practices.
Samsung Biologics said the validation strengthens its ability to provide transparent carbon footprint information to clients, particularly as sustainability expectations continue to rise across the biopharmaceutical value chain. Clearer emissions data is increasingly becoming a factor in supplier selection, regulatory compliance, and long-term net-zero planning.
The company added that the validated system supports improved communication between manufacturers and partners by enabling more accurate comparisons of emissions at the product level. This is expected to help clients better assess environmental impacts throughout drug development and commercial manufacturing.
