Qantas Auckland flights are set to expand with exciting new routes starting in 2026. The Australian airline is launching new flights to the Gold Coast from Auckland and ramping up its New York service to daily departures. This comes as Qantas enhances its services and facilities in Auckland, including a larger international lounge and the return of the Airbus A380 with upgraded cabins.
Gold Coast to Auckland Flights Begin in June 2026
Starting June 16, 2026, Qantas will offer direct flights between Gold Coast and Auckland, becoming the only airline on this route to provide a business class cabin. These flights will be operated with Boeing 737 aircraft, offering a 12-seat business class section in a 2-2 layout, with 156-162 economy seats in a 3-3 configuration. The flights will operate three times a week, providing a premium option for travelers seeking a better flying experience than what is currently offered by low-cost carriers like Jetstar and Air New Zealand.
Increased Flights Between Auckland and New York
In addition to the Gold Coast route, Qantas is also increasing its Auckland to New York service. Starting mid-2026, the airline will operate a daily flight between Auckland and JFK Airport in New York. This schedule update aims to meet growing demand for direct transpacific flights and will enhance Qantas’ presence in the US market.
New Lounge and A380 Upgrades for Auckland Passengers
Passengers traveling from Auckland will also enjoy the benefits of an upgraded Qantas lounge, opening December 17, 2025. The new lounge will be 60% larger than its predecessor, offering more comfort and space for eligible travelers. The lounge features 15 shower suites and ample seating for up to 370 passengers, catering to high-demand routes like Auckland-New York.
Meanwhile, Qantas’ Airbus A380, after several years in storage, has returned with a complete cabin refurbishment. The A380 will be used on select international routes, including flights to Los Angeles and London, with the business class configuration now offering a 1-2-1 layout for direct aisle access.
Looking Ahead: Stronger Routes and Enhanced Services
Qantas’ expansion in Auckland reflects the airline’s commitment to providing more options for travelers flying to Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. With enhanced services and upgraded aircraft, Qantas aims to maintain its leadership in the premium travel market.
