Gemini agentic AI

Google and Samsung have unveiled Gemini agentic AI, a powerful new upgrade that allows smartphones to handle real-world, multi-step tasks with minimal user input. The feature is rolling out first on the Pixel 10 series and the newly announced Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup. With Gemini agentic AI, users can now order food, book rides, and manage complex requests directly from their phones using voice or text commands.

The launch marks a major shift in how AI assistants function on mobile devices. While many assistants respond to single prompts, Gemini agentic AI is designed to understand context, analyze information, and complete several steps in sequence. This is the kind of functionality Apple previewed for Siri at its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference but later postponed. Now, Google and Samsung are moving forward with a live rollout.

Gemini agentic AI brings a new level of automation to Android. Instead of acting like a simple chatbot, Gemini works as a task-oriented digital partner. It can review conversations, make decisions based on user preferences, and interact with apps to complete actions. The goal is clear: transform smartphones into proactive productivity tools.

How Gemini Agentic AI Handles Multi-Step Tasks

During Samsung’s Unpacked event, Sameer Samat, President of Android at Google, demonstrated how Gemini agentic AI works in everyday situations. In a staged demo, he showed Gemini analyzing a busy family group chat to determine what type of pizza everyone wanted for dinner.

After reviewing the conversation, Gemini summarized the order and prepared it through a delivery app. The assistant navigated the app interface, selected items, and drafted the order. Once everything was ready, Gemini sent a notification for final approval before submission.

This ability to move from conversation analysis to real app interaction highlights the real power of Gemini agentic AI. Instead of switching between multiple apps and manually entering details, users can delegate the process to the assistant.

Gemini Agentic AI Expands Beyond Food Orders

Ordering pizza is only one example. Gemini agentic AI will also support ride-hailing services, allowing users to request transportation with simple voice instructions. By integrating directly with supported apps, Gemini can initiate bookings and prepare confirmations while keeping the user in control of final approval.

Google recently introduced automated browsing features for Gemini in Chrome. Bringing similar automation directly into Android makes the experience more seamless. Users will not need to open a browser or manually search for services. Gemini can handle the workflow inside the operating system itself.

This integration signals Google’s long-term ambition. The company wants Gemini agentic AI to evolve into a digital agent capable of assisting with scheduling, shopping, travel planning, and other daily tasks.

Pixel 10 and Galaxy S26 Lead the Rollout

The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S26 series will be the first devices to receive agentic AI features. By prioritizing flagship models, Google and Samsung ensure the hardware can support advanced AI processing and on-device intelligence.

These phones are positioned as AI-first devices. The inclusion of agentic AI reinforces that strategy. Rather than focusing only on camera upgrades or display improvements, manufacturers are now competing on AI capabilities.

For Samsung, the move strengthens its partnership with Google and highlights Android’s expanding ecosystem advantages. For Google, the rollout showcases Gemini as more than a standalone AI model. It becomes an embedded assistant woven into the Android experience.

Why Gemini Agentic AI Matters

The introduction of Gemini AI could redefine user expectations for smartphone assistants. Instead of asking an assistant for information, users can now assign tasks. This transition from reactive to proactive AI changes how people interact with their devices.

Although some may argue that manually placing an order is simple enough, automation becomes valuable in busy moments. When juggling multiple responsibilities, delegating small but time-consuming tasks can improve efficiency.

The broader impact extends beyond convenience. If Gemini AI proves reliable, it may accelerate the shift toward fully agent-based mobile computing. Competitors will likely respond with similar systems, increasing innovation across the industry.

The Future of Gemini Agentic AI

Google has described the feature as launching soon, with expansion expected over time. As more apps integrate with Gemini AI, the assistant’s capabilities will grow. The system could eventually manage travel itineraries, compare prices, coordinate events, or automate recurring purchases.

For now, the focus remains on controlled, user-approved automation. Gemini prepares actions but still requires confirmation before final submission. This balance aims to maintain trust while introducing deeper AI autonomy.

With Gemini agentic AI now entering mainstream Android devices, the era of digital agents on smartphones has officially begun.
