Apple has issued an urgent security warning for iPhone users following the discovery of a serious flaw in the WebKit browser engine, which powers Safari and other browsers on iOS devices. This vulnerability allows cyber attackers to take control of a device and potentially steal sensitive information, including passwords and payment details. Apple has already released a fix through the latest software update, but many users are yet to update their devices.

The Security Threat
The security flaw affects a wide range of iPhones, including models from iPhone 11 and later, as well as iPads. The flaw in WebKit could allow attackers to gain control of the device remotely and access personal data, posing a significant risk. Apple acted swiftly to address the issue, and the patch is now available in iOS 26, but only about 50% of users have installed the update so far.

Which Devices Are Affected?
The security issue affects the following devices:

  • iPhone 11 and later
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation and later
  • iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later
  • iPad Air 3rd generation and later
  • iPad 8th generation and later
  • iPad mini 5th generation and later

What Should You Do?
Apple recommends that all users update to iOS 26 immediately to protect their devices. To do so, simply go to Settings > General > Software Update. If your device is not running the latest version, follow the prompts to install the update. If you have trouble, try restarting your phone and checking for updates again.

The Importance of Staying Updated
Apple emphasizes that keeping your software up to date is one of the most critical steps in maintaining the security of your device. In the face of growing cyber threats, ensuring that your iPhone or iPad is running the latest software can protect your data from potential harm.

With millions of devices at risk, it is essential for all iPhone and iPad users to update to iOS 26 as soon as possible. If you haven’t yet updated your device, take action now to secure your personal information and avoid falling victim to cyberattacks. Stay vigilant and keep your device protected!
