At the BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi, Gary Vaynerchuk spoke about the golden era of individual business in the Middle East. According to Vaynerchuk, this is a transformative time where individuals can build billion-dollar businesses from their influence. He believes that rapid advancements in social media, e-commerce, and blockchain are fueling this new era for entrepreneurs.
The Golden Era of Individual Business: Shift in Social Media
Vaynerchuk highlighted the increasing power of social networks. “Social networks have become more democratized,” he said. “We are now in the interest media era.” Unlike in the past, where a large following was necessary, algorithms now prioritize content. “Someone could start with no followers, and their fourth TikTok could get 13 million views,” he noted, emphasizing how new opportunities are emerging for creators.
New Opportunities for Entrepreneurs in the Golden Era
Platforms like TikTok Shop, Shopify, and live shopping have made it easier for entrepreneurs to bypass traditional retail and reach their audience directly. “Humans can now start brands and sell them in ways that were not possible 20 years ago,” Vaynerchuk said. This ability to connect directly with customers has transformed the landscape of business ownership.
Additionally, blockchain technology allows creators to capture more economic value without intermediaries. “I can sell digital products or access to me and not pay a credit card processing company or platform in between,” Vaynerchuk explained.
AI-Generated Influencers and the Future of Business
Looking ahead, Vaynerchuk predicted that AI-generated influencers will significantly impact the business world. “Today, we’re 95% real-life influencers and 5% AI,” he said. “Within 36 months, it’ll be 60–40.” This shift is expected to redefine how businesses operate and how entrepreneurs engage with their audiences.
A Call to Action for Middle East CEOs
Vaynerchuk encouraged CEOs in the Middle East to leverage their personal brands alongside their corporate ones. “This is a golden era… a golden half-century of the individual capturing the lion’s share of the economics,” he said. Leaders who avoid visibility, he warned, risk missing out on growing their business.
