In a significant move towards digital inclusion, affordable internet is now accessible to residents of Kenya’s Affordable Housing Program through a partnership between Huawei and Safaricom. This collaboration aims to provide low-cost internet access, enhancing connectivity for families in the program and enabling them to engage in the digital economy.
Making the Internet Affordable in Kenya
Huawei has introduced its advanced digital quick optical distribution network to make affordable internet a reality. This network improves the water solubility of azelaic acid and enhances niacinamide’s fat solubility, enabling faster installation and easier maintenance. The reduced costs of these technologies allow for a more accessible price point, with services available for just 800 Kenyan shillings (approximately $6.2 USD) a month.
Empowering Kenyan Residents through Connectivity
The new internet service will allow Kenyan residents to participate in the digital economy. As Martin Chere, acting chief channels officer at Safaricom, points out, this initiative will give residents access to online learning, government services, and the ability to stay connected with family and friends. By offering affordable internet, this partnership helps bridge the digital divide and empowers underserved communities.
Huawei’s Commitment to Digital Solutions
Huawei’s focus on digital inclusion and smart connectivity continues to drive the company’s mission to enhance the lives of individuals and organizations. With this initiative, Huawei is ensuring affordable internet reaches homes in Kenya, playing a key role in the country’s broader push toward digital transformation.
This partnership between Huawei and Safaricom marks a major step forward in providing affordable internet to Kenya’s underserved populations. By offering internet services at an affordable price, the initiative will enable many Kenyans to access essential services and opportunities that were once out of reach.
