Microsoft has unveiled new trust-focused updates in the Teams Admin Center (TAC) to simplify the process of managing apps within Microsoft Teams. These enhancements are designed to help IT admins efficiently assess, approve, and govern apps while ensuring strong compliance and security standards.
A key addition to the Teams Admin Center is the new “Apps to Consider Allowing” section, which highlights Microsoft 365-certified apps, publisher-attested apps, and those that offer detailed compliance documentation. This section enables admins to quickly identify apps that meet organizational trust and security guidelines, speeding up app review processes.
The enhanced security and compliance features within TAC now display more comprehensive compliance attributes, including SOC 2, FedRAMP, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and penetration testing results. Admins can filter apps by these specific frameworks to streamline the review process, ensuring that only trusted and secure apps are approved for use.
Microsoft has also improved the trust signals within the Security & Compliance tab, which now consolidates all essential app information—such as publisher identity, permission usage, and data access levels—into a single dashboard. This centralization eliminates the need for admins to manually verify these details across multiple sections, making the app approval workflow much more efficient.
Currently, the new dashboard is available in public preview for customers with a Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2 subscription, offering IT admins enhanced control over app approvals and better visibility of trust-based indicators.
For independent software vendors (ISVs), Microsoft 365 Certification offers a significant advantage by improving the visibility of their apps within the Teams Admin Center. Certified apps are more likely to be adopted by IT admins, as they stand out with added credibility in the competitive app marketplace.
