Oman visa-free entry will be granted to Philippine citizens beginning in 2026, signaling a significant shift in bilateral relations and Oman’s commitment to attracting global tourists. This decision will raise the total number of visa-exempt countries to 105, further solidifying Oman as a welcoming destination for international visitors.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties with the Philippines
Oman’s new visa exemption is part of a broader effort to deepen economic, tourism, and investment ties between Muscat and Manila. Traditionally focused on labor cooperation, the two nations are expanding their relationship to include high-value sectors such as tourism and investment.
Facilitating Travel for Filipino Tourists
Oman’s decision to exempt Filipino tourists from visa requirements aligns with its long-term strategy to broaden its global partnerships. While the Philippines will now be added to Oman’s growing list of visa-exempt countries, Filipino travelers will still need to meet certain pre-departure requirements, including proof of health fitness, financial solvency, and valid flight and hotel bookings.
These measures are seen as consistent with Oman’s own approach to managing entry for visitors while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
A Boost for Tourism and Economic Cooperation
The visa exemption is expected to increase tourism flows between the two nations and create opportunities for greater cooperation in investment and industry. Earlier this year, Oman held the Cebu Investment Forum in Manila, which paved the way for exploring new avenues for economic collaboration. A second forum will take place in Muscat in February, further enhancing tourism and commercial exchanges.
This diplomatic move demonstrates Oman’s dedication to expanding its international profile, boosting tourist arrivals, and fostering sustainable partnerships with countries across the globe.
