Samsung Rugby Partnership

The Samsung Rugby Partnership has officially been launched as SA Rugby welcomed global technology powerhouse Samsung as its new mobile and consumer electronics partner. The two-year collaboration covers the Springboks, Springbok Women, Junior Springboks, Blitzboks, and Springbok Women’s Sevens, while also extending to the Vodacom United Rugby Championship as an associate partner.

The agreement signals a major technological shift for South African rugby, combining world-class Galaxy innovations with the passion and growth of the national game.

Samsung Rugby Partnership to Boost Performance and Fan Experience

SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer said the Samsung Rugby Partnership aligns perfectly with the sport’s ambitions. He explained that Samsung’s devices and AI-driven tools will support the teams’ high-performance environment, strengthen communication, and elevate fan engagement throughout the season. The partnership will give players and staff access to next-generation hardware, improved training tools, and enhanced digital connectivity.

Samsung executives echoed this vision. Justin Hume, Vice President of Mobile eXperience, said Galaxy AI would transform how supporters interact with the sport—capturing moments, sharing highlights, and following matches with greater clarity and immediacy. He said the partnership reflects a natural fit between modern technology and modern rugby culture.

Samsung Rugby Partnership to Strengthen URC Growth in South Africa

The Vodacom URC also stands to benefit. League CEO Martin Anayi said Samsung’s involvement would deepen the competition’s bond with local fans and accelerate digital innovation across South African rugby. He highlighted the competition’s rising global visibility and said new technology-driven touchpoints would enrich the matchday experience for supporters.

A New Chapter for Technology in Sport

Samsung said the partnership supports its long-term investment in South Africa and its goal of humanising technology. By integrating Galaxy AI into sports storytelling and fan engagement, Samsung aims to bring fans closer to players and live moments—whether in stadiums or at home.

Supporters can expect enhanced content, stadium activations, fan competitions, and new digital experiences throughout the season. Samsung believes this collaboration represents more than sponsorship; it is a commitment to growing rugby pathways, uplifting local talent, and shaping the future of South African sport through innovation.
